FILED BEFORE THE FEDERAL ENERGY REGULATORY COMMISSION
APPLICATION FOR NEW LICENSE FOR THE
KAWEAH HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT (FERC PROJECT NO. 298)
On December 23, 2019, Southern California Edison Company (SCE) (address: 1515 Walnut Grove Avenue, Rosemead, CA 91770) filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or Commission) an Application for New License (License Application) for the Kaweah Project (Project). The Project is located on the Kaweah River and East Fork Kaweah River near the community of Three Rivers in Tulare County, California, on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada.
The Project consists of three developments: Kaweah No. 1, Kaweah No. 2, and Kaweah No. 3, which commenced operation in June 1899, February 1905, and May 1913, respectively. The Project has limited storage capacity and is operated in a “run-of-river” mode. The total generating capacity is 8.85 megawatts.
The existing FERC License expires on December 31, 2021. SCE is requesting renewal of its license to continue operation and maintenance of the Project with a license term of 50 years.
As described in the License Application, SCE’s Proposed Action includes: modification to the existing FERC Project boundary; recreation facility enhancements; additional Project maintenance activities; modification to Project operations; and new environmental measures, management and monitoring plans, and programs designed to protect, maintain, or enhance environmental and cultural resources.
The License Application was prepared utilizing FERC’s Integrated Licensing Process (ILP) and pursuant to Title 18 of the Code of Federal Regulations §§4.32, 4.51, and 5.18. The License Application is composed of six volumes including public, critical energy infrastructure (CEII), confidential, and privileged information.

The License Application, with the exception of materials with CEII and privileged

Members of the public wishing for additional studies to be performed must make a request in writing to the FERC consistent with 18 CFR §4.32(b)(7) within 60 days of the filing of the License Application referencing FERC Project No. 298. Comments should be submitted to:
