Anyone who knows someone who has contributed significantly to make Woodlake a better place in which to live, work, and/or be educated is welcome to complete a nomination application for the annual Woodlake awards that are presented for Woman of the Year, Youths of the Year (one female/one male), Man of the Year, Business of the Year, and several other categories.
Nominations are due by Sunday, December 1. The annual Awards Dinner to will be held Friday March 6, 2020 (but winners will be notified/announced in advance). Woodlake accepting applications
In addition to those lifted above, here are the other potential award categories to be selected: Spirit of Woodlake, Youth Mentor of the Year, Organization of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, Recycler of the Year, and other awards as warranted.
Here is the award criteria for various categories: Woodlake accepting applications
—Woman / Man of the Year: Must currently live within the Woodlake Elementary School boundaries.
—Youth of the Year: Must live in the Woodlake High School district (includes Three Rivers).
—Spirit of Woodlake: This person does not have to live in Woodlake but must have a connection to Woodlake. and exemplify the “Spirit of Woodlake.” Woodlake accepting applications
—Business of the Year: Must be within the 93286 zip code. (This award is selected by the Woodlake Valley Chamber of Commerce.)
—Youth Mentor: Must have volunteered service to the youth within the Woodlake Elementary School boundaries (coaches, teachers, ministers, youth organization leaders, etc.).
—Organization of the Year: Any organization that serves the community within the boundaries of Woodlake Elementary School. Woodlake accepting applications
—Recycler of the Year: Any person or group that has made a significant contribution to recycling in Woodlake. (This award is selected by Midvalley Disposal.)
—Other (Veteran of the Year, Woman/Man of the Decade, Lifetime Achievement Award): Will be determined at the discretion of the selection committee each year. Woodlake accepting applications
Selection procedures: An anonymous committee will review nominations received this year and those received from two prior years to select the winners. The committee consists of one member each from the following entities: City of Woodlake, Woodlake Police Department, Chamber of Commerce, Lions/Lady Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, The Home Grown Project, Woodlake Unified School District administration, and a Woodlake High School staff member.
